October Roundup: Oct. 16 Workshop, Starting a New Contract Role, & Jumping into CreativeMornings/Montclair

Autumn continues to be my favorite time of year. As I transform with the season, I’m holding fast to hope for a brighter future. What makes this lift easier—the massive weight that it is to maintain hope in dark times—is the power of community. In that spirit, my October roundup spotlights the many ways community and learning have been a guiding light.

Oct. 16 Workshop: Flip Yo’ Skills – How to Monetize Your Expertise

Considering a path in entrepreneurship? You will want to attend the featured workshop at this week’s Higher Education Staff Hope Collective gathering! I want to spotlight the featured workshop tomorrow night (Oct. 16) at our biweekly no-cost virtual gathering.

Sara Brooks, Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) and Change Management Practitioner with a proven track record in facilitation, curriculum development, and program management, will facilitate a workshop all about ways you can leverage your expertise to generate streams of income.  Sara will also be co-facilitating the gathering alongside the amazing Kim Marks.

Note: We will also have a presentation by representatives (based in California) from New York Life Insurance, an insurance company offering us no-cost support. They will provide a presentation about financial management during a layoff and answer your questions live.

Jumping from Education to Tech

This week has been a particularly exciting one for my career journey. On Tuesday, Oct. 14, I made my first steps out of my career-long dedication to working in higher education and K-12 organizations and into the world of tech.

In my new role as Employee Onboarding & Learning Specialist, I’ll have the opportunity to lead AI-focused projects with heavy emphases on communications, content strategy, technology, and the employee experience, support employee learning experiences, and drive new hire onboarding for team members at the New York City LinkedIn office, among other intriguing efforts and initiatives.

I shared more about starting in Talent Development at LinkedIn on…well, my LinkedIn!

New Jersey’s First CreativeMornings Chapter: Montclair

One of the creative communities that I have fallen madly in love with is CreativeMornings. I started to attend their no-cost events and clubs much more frequently when I moved to Brooklyn a few years ago, eagerly joining in on any NYC chapter events that I could to find community and inspiration.

Now that I live in New Jersey, I’ve been so thrilled to learn that the first chapter in the state was recently launched in Montclair. I volunteered to get involved as soon as I found out about the new chapter—and so, I’m excited to share that I have joined the CreativeMornings volunteer team to drive social media outreach, shoot event photography, and more for CreativeMornings/Montclair.

The Higher Education Staff Hope Collective is also now a partner organization for CreativeMornings/Montclair—find this new partnership listed on the CreativeMornings site linked below!

Our next event in Montclair, NJ, features Angie Enger on our CreativeMornings October theme, “Soft.” From the event registration page: “Angie Enger, MA, is a compassionate and insightful Self-Intimacy and Sex Coach dedicated to helping women and femmes redefine their erotic identities and reclaim their pleasure. She guides individuals to confidently explore their desires, navigate complex emotions, and forge deeper connections with themselves and their partners. Clients praise her ability to create a shame-free space for exploration, providing practical tools and profound insights that lead to greater sexual fulfillment and empowered self-expression.”

If you’re in the New Jersey area, join us and catch me shooting photos on Oct. 24, 9:30 – 11 a.m. EST at Lackawanna Station, Montclair. Also, consider giving us a follow on Instagram.
